I recently took a purposeful career break to serve as the secondary caretaker for my brother following a severe motorcycle accident that resulted in spinal fractures and complex surgery. During this intensive period, I managed his post-operative recovery, helped coordinate medical appointments, and provided daily physical and emotional support.
Simultaneously, I stepped in to care for my young niece, who is on the autism spectrum, ensuring stability and routine in her life while our family navigated this crisis. This experience sharpened my crisis management skills, deepened my empathy, and reinforced my ability to remain calm, organized, and solution-focused under pressure.
